So... I took pictures.

These are yesterday's pictures of the garden. The top right is a Better Boy tomato. It has been that big for a couple days now, just waiting for it to ripen. Next to that is my biggest cucumber... I have got to check the seed packet to remind myself the maturity. I am really hoping to be able to make some pickles this year with the recipe my grandmother gave me. I will share it when I make them. The next picture is of some of the sweet potato vines. This is my first year ever even thinking about growing sweet potatoes.

Second row... all the way on the right, that is one of my grape vines. We just planted them this year so we aren't really expecting grapes. I am more interested in them getting established and giving us beautiful grapes in the future. Next to the grape is a picture of my grape tomato. We have baby tomatoes! Next is my humongous squash plant that the most squash came off of yesterday.

Third row, my biggest Lemon Grass plant, I have 4. I planted them in containers around my patio because they chase away the mosquitoes. Plus they are great to use in cooking or tea. Next picture is my Cherry tomato plant and below it is the first pickings. The foliage is so think I didn't think there was anything there. Then teh last picture is my Roma Tomatoes. They look deformed.

Fresh from the garden

Okay.... we have our first squash. Now what do we do with it? LOL.... I am probably the only southerner around that never cared for squash. In this quest to eat healthier I will learn to love it though. I have about 8 cucumbers 4-6 inches long that are still on the vine.
Tomato wise I have 7 better boy tomatoes that are big and green. I have 10 romas that I think are bigger than they are suppose to be. The grape tomatoes are little bity and I think about 6-10 right now. I had some cherry tomatoes but I think somebody got them.

And my question of the week..... how do you know when sweet potatoes are ready?

Another Manic Monday it seems.

First up, thanks to everybody that has stopped by lately. Hope you enjoy. I also hope to do the 12 of 12 monthly.

Did everybody have a good Father's Day? We had family from out of town come in and we had a big cook out at Nana and Papa's. It was nice... just wish the missing brother and his family could have made it.

Then Sunday night we went in to the drive in. It was customer appreciation weekend so it was free. We saw Alvin and the chipmunks.

This evening planning on re-establishing part of the garden and planting potatoes.... figure it couldn't hurt. Depending how Jeff is doing once he gets off work we may till up another area to plant some more seeds too..

Well.... we are off to the library and then to pick up the fab 4 from Kamp Kandu. Hope they have had fun.

12 of 12

Okay... this is my first time doing this and I think it's cute... For those of you dropping in, I am a stay at home mom of 6. We live in rural middle Tennessee. Literally, nobody claims us... LOL. I will own up that I forgot to take the pictures while we were doing things... (sorry)

For more info on the 12 of 12, visit Chad Darnell's blog

And just an FYI... we didn't go anywhere today.

7:28am Daisy was awake and hungry.

8:00 am It was time to check in on the garden and to hope that the rabbits stayed out.

8:15am The tomatoes and Peppers could be doing better in my opinion.

After about 9am it was getting quite warm it was already 88' F here. And the humidity... ugh... we did a few indoor things and watched a little bit of Noggin. Then we said forget it... we are spending the afternoon in the pool.

1:00pm Pool Time!!! Doesn't it look inviting? I am just so happy we have kept the algae out of it last year I wasn't so fortunate.

1:00pm I did have to throw this one in too... Murphy was VERY happy that we were going outside. She is an older kitty and doesn't really like the younger generation in our home.

3:15pm Benji was a little upset about having to get out of the pool... We had a small rain shower come through and he wanted to stay out in it. With all the thunder we were hearing I thought it best to go in.

3:45pm Jeff got home from work!!

6:10pm Time to fire up the grill for dinner. We try to use the grill more than the indoor stove to keep the heat out of the house. Most times it works.

6:30pm Benji's favorite dinner Hebrew National Beef Hotdogs and French Fries. (Hey... quick and easy.)

7:30pm Watered the flower boxes.

7:45 pm Watered the front bed

7:55pm Found a surprise in my roma tomatoes.

Hope you enjoyed your visit!
